Prevention of global warming
Toshiba's efforts to prevent global warming are centred on reducing energy-orientated CO2 emissions, the reduction of greeenhouse gas emissions (other than CO2) and the reduction of CO2 emissions associated with product logistics.
Control of chemical substances
Toshiba's desire is to have our customers use our products with confidence and to prevent the release of harmful substances into the environment. In fact, Toshiba Corporation has set a goal of reducing emissions of chemical substances into the air and water by 50%. The European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive bans the use of certain chemical substances in products. Toshiba quickly moved to comply with this directive, placing Toshiba at the forefront of efforts to hasten the emergence of a sustainable society.
Efficient resource utilisation
Toshiba strives to reduce the rate of waste generated, increasing recycling of used products and achieve Zero Emissions. Toshiba is focused on maintaining Zero Emissions at Toshiba factories, laboratories, and other subsidiaries. Zero Emissions is achieved when the quantity of waste for a landfill after treatment is equivalent to 1% or less of the total amount of waste discharged.
