Toshiba's IP series of featurephones includes a SoftIPT which allows users to use their laptop, PC or Windows Mobile device as a fully functioning IP phone. The SoftIPT is particularly useful for individuals who may work in a variety of locations including branch offices, at home, or even on the move.
The SoftIPT comes in two versions, a PC edition for PCs/laptops and a Mobile Edition for Windows Mobile devices. The PC edition features G729a and G711 compression to ensure efficient use of bandwidth, allowing more simultaneous calls to be made.
Users have the abilty to import their Outlook contacts directory for increased efficiency. The SoftIPT still has the option for running in the background so that users can continue to perform their daily work operation and have the SoftIPT reside in the system tray.
The SoftIPT v3.0 is equipped with the following as standard:
